We're Gonna Make The Playoffs...? |
| Posted By: Themepark @ January 13, 2008 02:59 pm |
As the full time whistle went ending Brentford's 4th Consecutive Victory, Griffin Park was probably heard all the way in Westminster as chants of "We're Gonna Make the Playoffs" shook the stands.
Some fantastic football was played and there was hardly a fault in the entire game. Well done to the lads and to Andy who has defied all logic and pulled out 4/4 wins. I honestly had doubts about yestarday's game but I was proved wrong by some quality passing and possesion style play.
We're gonna make the play-offs? We're 8 points away, and 11 from Promotion. Anything's possible but complacency is the key factor. We can't assume we'll keep winning, but we can't drop our heads and think the run is over. So at Accrington, just do one thing. Hold your head up high, take in a deep breath and shout...
COME ON YOU REDS ... [more] |

And It Keeps Going |
| Posted By: bracknellbee @ January 12, 2008 08:00 pm |
Brentford once again gained a deserved victory, this time against high fliers Chesterfield. The Spireites started off brightly, trying to get the ball through to dangerman Jack Lester but to no avail as Matt Heywood and Karleigh Osborne were sticking to him and not letting him play. Brentford finally got the breakthrough they deserved after several near misses when a cool lay off from Connell to Smith was clinically finished into the far corner. Brentford continued to pressure the Chesterfield defence, when a lapse of concentration by the Bees defence allowed the visitors to grab an equaliser from Lester, scoring his 18th of the season. With half time approaching, Brentford were trying to steal another to try to take a lead into the break. Connell tried a looping shot which just went wide of the mark. The second half, the Bees started slowly, conceding a corner within the first minute of the re-start as Chesterfield looked to attack the game more. Fletcher came on for Winter at half time and was providing an aerial thread for them. The long ball came the fashion of Chesterfield as they were trying to break down the defence of Heywood and Osborne, when Osborne caught himself out. A long clearance by Chesterfield keeper Roche was failed to be cleared by Osborne, and suddenly the defender thought he would over hit a pass back to Hamer and nearly scored an own goal. You can tell the pressure was on the Bees then. They needed a goal, and they needed one quickly. Wh ... [more] |

Bees Boss Andy Scott has made his first major move in the transfer market by signing, for an undisclosed fee, Ryan Dickson on a long term contract.
21 year old left sided player Ryan originally joined the Club in November on loan from Plymouth Argyle since when he has made 10 appearances, including one as a substitute, more recently operating at left full back.
In acquiring Ryan for The Bees, Brentford beat off competition from other interested clubs.
On signing Ryan said: "I'm really happy to join the Club. It's a great opportunity for me to play first team football. Since Andy took over he has turned things round rapidly, and the boys have responded by doing really well and that's something we want to continue doing."
When asked about his initial reaction to joining the Club in November he said: "When I first came here we weren't exactly in the best of form. The team spirit was quite good but obviously when you're losing you do start to lose some confidence. But now we look more of a team and look far more solid on the pitch. We feel good about ourselves and have a lot of confidence both in our own ability and each others. But of course we need to keep grounding out results and then hopefully keep pushing further up the table." < ... [more] |

Sam Tillen Leaves |
| Posted By: bracknellbee @ January 10, 2008 07:35 pm |
Sam Tillen has left Brentford Football Club by mutual consent.
He played in 2 games this season, both on as a sub, starting with the 3-0 defeat from Bristol City and the 1-1 draw away to Notts County.
You will find his last start for Brentford was in the 4-3 win in the final match of last season, against Port Vale.
Although he started well at Brentford, his form towards the end of his career at the Bees was not that tremendous.
We will wish him the luck he needs to be successful elsewhere. To talk about the departure please visit this thread. This thread also includes the signing of Lanre Oyebanjo. Lanre has signed on non-contract terms until the end of the season. ... [more] |
